Thomas J. Phillips
Thomas J. Phillips, the “Merchant Prince” of East Florence, was President of the East Florence Bank, owned a general merchant store, and was a Lauderdale County Commissioner. He died in 1933. His notable home still stands today on Billy Goat Hill at 120 Georgia Avenue. The Victorian mansion, Terrace Heights, was built in 1887 and overlooks all of the Sweetwater Valley.
